Runnymede's Conservatives voted against declaring a Climate Emergency for the umpteenth time last night (27 April 2023) at the final Full Council meeting of the municipal year.

It was an opportunity to send a clear message to all residents, staff and organisations in the borough, but for political reasons they declined once again.

They were first asked in the autumn of 2019 to support the declaration of a Climate Emergency, which they refused to do. Despite Climate Change being included in the Corporate Plan there seems to be a lack of enthusiasm from the Runnymede Conservatives. Their rejection was supported by all three of the Ottershaw Independent Group.

We do wonder how serious they are about reaching Net Zero by 2030!
